(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is a SET of TWO original vintage Century of Progress, Chicago World's Fair postcards from the 1930s. One for the Railway Express Agency and the other for Burlington Railway Post Office.

"RAILWAY EXPRESS AGENCY - The Symbol of Dependable Service. - Present day convenience and dependability of the nation's Railway Express service for meeting the shipping needs of the American family are typified in this scene, one of the series of seven striking oil paintings by Robert E. Lee, exhibited at the booth of the Railway Express Agency in the Travel and Transport Building on the A Century Of Progress Exposition grounds."

"SEVENTY YEARS OF PROGRESS IN THE RAILWAY POST OFFICE - In a little car like this, on July 28, 1862, enroute from West Quincy to St. Joseph, Missouri over what is now a part of the Burlington main line from Chicago to Kansas City and St. Joseph, United States Mail was first sorted while in transit. The purpose was to speed the departure of the overland stage coach from St. Joseph to California. At the right is the modern standard Railway Post Office, in several of which the California and other western mail is now sorted nightly on the Burlington fast mail trains between Chicago and Omaha. - The old and the new mail cars form a part of the Burlington's Exhibit at A Century of Progress Exposition."

The postcards are unused and are in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, a few small stains.
