(3 1/2 x 5 1/2 In) This is a SET of FOUR Th. E. L., Theochrom Serie No. 1167, Theodor Eismann postcards from 1909. They show an Edwardian woman in a shirtwaist dress being rescued from the upper floors of a burning building by a fireman on a ladder. It brings to mind the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire which happened in 1911, just two years after these were made.

"The cry for help. Amidst the raging firey flames, a maiden stood alone. "Oh God, she cried, will no one come, will no one, hear my moan."

"To the Rescue. But God in Heaven looked down on Earth, and heard the maiden's prayer; The engine bell clanged loudly out;-- A fireman's quickly there."

"Approach of the Hero. The ladder quickly he ascends, "I am coming then", he calls. The maiden's cries are smothered now, he hurries lest she fall."

"Rewarding the rescuer. But when at last the pavement reached, he puts her lightly down, The watching crowd all loudly cheer, "He's the Hero of our town."

The postcards are all unused and are in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, small chip at one edge, a few minor stains.
