(4 1/4 x 6 1/2 In) This is an original antique cabinet photograph from the 1800s. It shows a young Victorian girl posing in her mourning or "Half-Mourning" clothes, a lacy white dress with a black silk "love" ribbon tied at her waist, a black crepe parasol in her hand, a decorated straw hat on the pillar behind her. White was the usual color of choice for children in mourning, often paired with black ribbons or trim. An all black mourning outfit was thought by many Victorians to be unnatural or out of keeping for small children. The portrait was taken by photographer Parsons at 1407 Market Street in St. Louis, Missouri.

The photo is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, a few minor stains, slight bowing of board.
