(5 1/2 x 4 3/8 In) This is an original antique Doctor Pierce booklet from the 1920s. "Dream Book Bridal Superstitions" is a promotional book for Doctor Pierce's Invalid's Hotel and Surgical Institute in Buffalo, NY and features a dream dictionary and bridal superstitions. 32-pages long.
"In most countries and in all ages dreams have been believed in by some people as indications of the future. This form of superstition arises out of the pat and present act of the dreamer. In most ancient days, in Egypt and Babylon, the monarch's dreams were interpreted by high state officials. The Greeks and the Romans very often consulted the oracles. An inquirer would sleep in the temple at night after performing certain rites., when his questions were supposed to be answered in dreams. In modern times dreams are seldom heeded except by the superstitious, but at the same time, most people are interested in the mystery as to the cause of dreams which seem so far beyond the power of the will, and so we give here the common interpretation of dreams."
The booklet is in FAIR condition, heavy wear at the edges, a few small tears and creases on cover, some stains, fragile paper.
