(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Garrison Toy & Novelty Co., C. O. Buckingham Art Co. postcard from the 1930s. It shows a view of the Aurora Borealis Illumination of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, D.C.

"Night and the magic of electricity have here produced a chiaro-oscuro, which in a combination of darkness, color, light and reflection, no artist's brush can create. The capitol is 751 ft. in length and 350 ft. in width and covers an area of 3 1/2 acres. It ranks today among the noblest architectural objects in the world, its crowning glory being the statue of Freedom, which surmounts its dome, 307 ft. above the esplanade. At one end is the U. S. Senate, at the other the U. S. House of Representatives, the combined duties of whose members represent the greatest governmental undertaking in the world."

"Dec- 16 - 1930. Dear Virgil- we sure run into winter going to Clarksburg Thanksgiving. It was below zero + they were clearing the roads with snow shovels. Our car fan brokw + we had a time. We was two hours late. They waited a Turkey dinner on us. ___ + Betty are coming on Train to spend Xmas + Holidays. Last Night frize water here for the first Merry Xmas to you all.", reads the note written on the back.
