(6 x 2 In) This is an original antique John Wanamaker trade card from the 1800s. It shows a black-bordered, floral measure card, "PRESERVE THIS MEASURE CARD FOR YOUR WORK BASKET. Furnished gratuitously at Trimmings Department, GRAND DEPOT. We have enlarged counters, added clerks; and provided cash desk to insure quick despatch. We will try to serve the people well. JOHN WANAMAKER." It is reminiscent of the black bordered mourning stationary and funeral cards of the time and might have been given away with crape or other mourning trimming.
The card is in GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, general stains, scrapbook paper remnants and glue residue on the back side.
