(3 1/2 x 5 1/2 In) This is an original antique R & C postcard from the 1910s. It shows a reproduction of Pieter Bruegel's "The Misanthrope" photographed by Alinari while on display at the National Museum in Napoli, Italy. A Flemish inscription at the bottom reads:

Om dat de werelt is soe ongetru / Daer om gha ic in den ru
("Because the world is perfidious, I am going into mourning").

The postcard is used and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, light foxing.
