(3 5/8 x 4 3/4 In) This is an original antique, Red Triangle Press, Y.M.C.A. booklet from the 1910s. The cover shows a pensive WWI soldier sitting in the trenches, the spirit of Jesus reaching out to him. "The Unseen Friend" by A. K. Yapp. The booklet is 7-pages long.

Private Robinson, of the Buffs, sat in one of the front line trenches "Somewhere in France." It had been a perfect day. The guns, after a long spell of strafing, were silent. An aeroplane droned away high overhead, and a hawk hovered in the air, apparently motionless; both birds of prey were only waiting for an opportunity of swooping down upon their quarry. Robinson did not see the aeroplane, he was looking straight in front of him, but saw nothing that ordinary eyes could see. In imagination he was far away from the battlefield and away back in his old home in Kent. He could see his dear old Mother just as he saw her on the day he left home. He could hear her dear voice saying over again those words that had been such a comfort to him ever since:- "Good-bye dear. May God go with you and protect you, and may you always find a Friend at your side, a Friend who will never fail you nor forsake you, unseen, but real- be true to Him, and your mother's God will be your constant Friend."

The booklet is in VERY GOOD condition, light wear at the edges.
