Tie Your Shoe Strings For Life- 1910s Antique Postcard- Edwardian Romance- Samson Brothers- Art Comic- Used

$9.50

(3 1/2 x 5 1/2 In) This is an original antique German made Samson Brothers embossed postcard from the 1910s. It shows a romantic Edwardian gentleman proposing to his sweetheart with the phrase, "I'd like to tie your shoe strings for life". Maybe just a transference of my own reaction, but the woman seems to be thinking, "Oh you would, would you?". Perhaps she can't bend to tie her own shoes because of a tightly laced corset. But that's just fine for this dandy, he likes his women docile, sweet and completely dependent on his masculine intelligence, strength and chivalry. He's thinking, "you'll never have to tie your shoes, get a job or think for your self again". She's thinking, "I'm wearing slip on shoes from now on".

"Friend Syd- Am now in Chic. having a good time. If there is any herdsman job or something similar around your place I would be much obliged to you if you would let me know. 858 Wrightwood Ave. - "Dutch", reads the message written on the back.

The postcard is used and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, a few minor stains and dents.
