Ice in John Barrett's Corn Field- 1910s Antique Photograph- Winter Flood- Jan 12, 1910- Cottonwood Valley, Missouri- AZO RPPC- Real Photo Postcard

(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original antique AZO paper real photo postcard from the 1910s. It shows a view of huge ice drifts in a farmer's field, "Ice In John Barrett's Corn Field". According to an article I found printed in a 1910 copy of the Kansas City Star the ice is the result of a wintertime flood. Here's what the article said:

"The damage resulting from the recent overflow of the Cottonwood River here Is still very apparent. January 12, the Cottonwood River rose higher than It had reached at any time in the last two years, and for four days the flood at many points spread out over the Cottonwood Valley depositing thousands of tons of Ice over the fields In its path. At the time the high water came, the river was covered with Ice from four to eight Inches thick. This was broken up and carried down the river, and at several points great Ice drifts were formed. Some of these drifts were so large that it will take weeks to melt them. On John Barrett’s farm and several other farms In the Cottonwood Valley."

The photo is in EXCELLENT condition, light wear at the edges.
