Comin' Thro' The Rye - Postcard, c. 1910s
(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original antique Valentine & Sons Ltd., "Scotch Message" postcard from the 1910s. It shows a beautiful Scottish lassie, "Comin' Thro' the Rye".
"Dear- This picture just hits me of to a T. Since coming here I don't wonder that Scotch girls are so well liked. They call them "Darlins" and "Ma ain wee doo" "Ma bonnie hielant lassie" "Bonnie wee thing" etc. They go roamin' thro the gloamin'. You meet them "Comin' Thro' the Rye". I'm wearing a Tam o'shanter and tartan plaid. I can say "Imphm" and "No' th' nicht" and "Awa wi ye" and I'm fair scunnert "That's all I'm giving away. Yours, "
The postcard is Unused and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips.
