Courtyard and Prison Rooms, Cabildo - New Orleans, LA - Postcard, c. 1950s

(3 1/2 x 5 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Louisiana News Company, Metropolitan linen postcard from the 1950s. It shows a view of the Courtyard and Prison "rooms" (cells) in the Cabildo, New Orleans, Louisiana.

"THE COURTYARD AND PRISON ROOMS in the Cabildo at Chartres and St. Peter's Streets. Note the tiers and cells, and the wide galleries around them. The room, with the door standing open on the ground floor, is the cell in which the pirate Lafitte was incarcerated after his capture by the Americans. Latter on his services were accepted by General Jackson and he participated in the Battle of New Orleans, where he covered himself with glory, subsequently receiving a pardon from the Congress of the United States.", reads the description printed on the back. 

The postcard is unused and is in VERY GOOD condition, minor wear at the edges.
