(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original antique E. C. Kropp Co., H. W. Fay, Custodian of Lincoln's Tomb, Herbert Georg Photo postcard from the 1920s. It shows a view of Ann Rutledge's grave in Petersburg, Illinois. (January 7th, 1813 - August 25th, 1835)

"Historic Lincoln Series No. 43
For a time Abraham Lincoln boarded at the Rutledge Tavern and in 1835, he became engaged to the innkeeper's daughter, Ann Rutledge, who died the same summer.", reads the description printed on the back. 

"INSCRIPTION --- A POEM BY EDGAR LEE MASTERS
Out of me unworthy and unknown
The vibrations of deathless music
"with malice toward none, with charity for all"
Out of me forgiveness of millions toward millions
and the beneficent face of a nation.
shining with justice and truth. 
I am Ann Rutledge who sleep beneath these weeds
Beloved of Abraham Lincoln,
Wedded to him, not through union
but through separation 
Bloom forever, O Republic
From the dust of my bosom."

The postcard is unused and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, some pencil marks.
