Mariners' Museum - Newport News, Virginia - Postcard, c. 1940s

(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Frank G. Ennis Paper Co., Metropolitan Co. linen postcard from the 1940s. It shows an interior view of the Mariners' Museum in Newport News, Virginia. 

"The Mariners' Museum was founded in 1930 by Archer M. Huntington. The Museum is devoted to the culture of the sea and its tributaries, its conquest by man, and its influence on civilization. The Museum is educational in purpose and world-wide in scope. Its aim is to display the maritime accomplishments of all times and of every nation. The buildings are surrounded by a huge park which has a beautiful artificial lake.", reads the description printed on the back. 

The postcard is used and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, a few minor creases, pencil scribble on back.
