First Home Built in Utah - Pergola on Temple Block - Salt Lake City, Utah - Postcard, c. 1940s

(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Carpenter Paper Co., Barkalow Bros. postcard from the 1940s. It shows a view of the First house built in Utah, now under a Pergola on Temple Block in Salt Lake City, Utah, "Center of Scenic America".

"The first house built in Utah was erected in 1847, under the direction of Brigham Young, by the Pioneers who reached Salt Lake Valley, July 24th of that year. The material used was rough logs, and slabs out from the same for the roof. The crevices between the logs were filled with mud. For preservation it has been placed under a pergola on Temple Block.", reads the description printed on the back. 

The postcard is unused and is in GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, a few minor stains.
