Greetings From Florida, The Sunshine State - Singing Tower Bok Memorial - Lake Wales, FL - Postcard, c. 1930s

(3 1/2 x 5 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Tichnor Bros. Inc. postcard from the 1930s. It shows a classic "Greetings From FLORIDA - The Sunshine State" and a view of the Bok Memorial Singing Tower in Lake Wales, Florida.

"Grateful for what America had given him, Edward W. Bok built the Mountain Lake Bird Sanctuary and Singing Tower at Lake Wales, Florida, as a token of his appreciation. The tower is 205 ft., 2 in. high, has a square base 51 ft. wide, and weighs 5,500 tons. It contains a carillon of 71 bells and is built for the most part from southern materials. It is a concrete example of Mr. Bok's creed- "Make you the world a bit better or more beautiful because you have lived in it.", reads the description printed on the back. 

"Dear Marjorie - This is one of the pretty places we have seen, but the best thing is the nice warm weather. Love Grandmother.", reads the note written on the back.
