(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Tichnor Quality View, Tichnor Bros., Inc. linen postcard from the 1940s. It shows a view of "The Cork Tree" on the State Capitol Grounds in Tallahassee, Florida. 

"Cork Oak, Quercus Suber presented to Florida by Charles E. Mc Manus, President Crown Cork & Seal Company, Inc. to encourage and promote the culture of cork oak planted and dedicated by Spessard L. Holland, Govenor December 12, 1944.

Tablet identifies the cork oak tree planted (extreme right) and dedicated by the Honorable Spessard L. Holland, Govenor of Florida, on the State Capitol grounds in Tallahassee Govenor Holland planting the cork tree and Florida's beautiful Capitol. 

THE CORK TREE - Cork is the bark of the cork oak. It is an essential peacetime commodity and a critical war material. It is a native of the Mediterranean area Cork oak can be grown Florida. Seedlings are free to landowners through the McManus nationwide cork growing program. Many thousands are now being planted. Write your State Forester."

The postcard is unused and is in GOOD condition, wear at the edges, stains on the back.
