(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Barney Tobey signed postcard from the 1940s. It shows WWII soldiers and sailors getting a bite to eat at The American Theatre Wing Stage Door Canteen. "Stars of stage, screen, radio, vaudeville and music world's provide food, dancing and entertainment to service men-- all free nightly."
"TUNE-IN! STAGE DOOR CANTEEN- Columbia Network every Friday night, 10:30 to 11:00 Eastern War Time- CORN PRODUCTS REFINING COMPANY producers of-- dextrose sugar - Karo Syrup - Mazola Salad Oil - Linit Starch - Kre-mel Dessert", reads the advertisement printed on the back.
"Louise, these cards cannot be mailed free as they have advertising on them, so, I decided to send them this way, not that I haven't the 1 cent, it's just I'm too lazy to get stamps.", reads the message written on the back.
The postcard is in EXCELLENT condition, light wear at the corner tips.
