Hemlock - SET of 2 - Pennsylvania State Tree - Postcards, c. 1940s
(3 1/2 x 5 1/2 In) This is a SET of TWO original vintage "Pennsylvania Beauty Views", Curteich linen postcards from the 1940s. They each show a view of the Hemlock, Pennsylvania's State Tree.
"Hemlock, Tsuga Canadensis, tall, rugged evergreen is the State Tree of Pennsylvania. The tree flowers in May, and the fruit, a cone, smaller than pine, changes from a pale green to dark brown."
"Hemlock, Tsuga Canadensis, majestic evergreen State Tree of Pennsylvania. Widely used for beautifying parks and home grounds. In early summer the branch tips are a light yellow contrasting with the dark green older foliage. The tree flowers in May, and the fruit, a cone, smaller than pine, changes from a pale green to a dark brown."
The postcards are unused and are in EXCELLENT condition.
