Ireland, an Emerald Gem - Grow Your Own Shamrock - Postcard, c. 1944
(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage Shamrock Series No. 10 postcard from 1944. It shows a silhouette of Ireland, an Irish Harp, Shaking hands, clover and forget-me-nots, "Lest We Forget - Ireland, An Emerald Gem in a Golden Setting". A tiny envelope still full of Irish Clover seeds is affixed to the front, "SHAMROCK SEED. Grow your own SHAMROCK". "Dotty ~ Bob" is written on the front above the hands.
"Somewhere in Northern Ireland- Monday Night- Jan. 10th, 1944. Dearest Dotty: Here are a few Shamrock seeds, see if you can have them grown by the time I come home. Plant them in poor soil, about 50 pct. Clay- and water them often. Love + Kisses, Bob.", reads the message written on the back.
The postcard is used and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips.
