Jacob's Ladder - Mt. Washington Cog Railway - Postcard, c. 1940s
(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage C. T. Art-Colortone linen postcard from the 1940s. It shows a view of Jacob's Ladder Mt. Washington Cog Railway in White Mountains, N. H.
"The ride over this far-famed trestle, known as Jacob's Ladder, is perhaps the most thrilling part of the ascent of Mt. Washington when made over the first and oldest Cog Railway in the world. The sturdy little Cog-wheeled engine pushes its passenger coach up the steep sides of Mt. Washington over an average grade of 1300 feet and a maximum grade of 1980 feet to the mile. As the summit is approached, the air grows colder and colder, the tree line vanishes and sub-Alpine vegetation commences.", reads the description printed on the back.
The postcard is unused and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges.
