THE MORBID CURIOUS NO. 4
The Journal of Ghosts, Murder, and the Macabre
FALL / HALLOWEEN DOUBLE ISSUE | 2021
"Welcome to our First Anniversary Issue! It was one year ago that we launched our first Halloween issue of the Morbid Curious and now we’re back again with a special issue “Among the Spirits!”
It’s interesting how this issue came about for me because it contains at article that was not supposed to be there in the first place. In keeping with the initial theme, we had several writers contribute stories about Spiritualism and the Spirit World and as I was putting them together, I realized that all the contributors for this issue were women. That turned out to be a bit ironic considering that Spiritualism in the nineteenth century offered American women the first chance to strike out independently on their own, becoming mediums, and important figures in the movement. Many believe that Spiritualism contributed greatly to the founding of women’s rights in our country, so it only seemed fitting that as the only man in the issue, I write a piece on how women not only created the Spiritualist movement but were the reason it existed for as long as it did. The paranormal field that we have today would not exist if not for the women who made it great – and neither would this issue! ~ Troy Taylor, American Hauntings Ink"
