(5 1/2 x 3 1/2 In) This is an original vintage C. T. American Art linen postcard from the 1950s. It shows a view of the West Virginia Penitentiary in Moundsville, West Virginia.

"West Virginia Penitentiary established in 1866. Contains 904 cells, inclosed by a sandstone wall 25 feet in height. Present population about 1,900 more or less. New annex begun in 1931.", reads the description printed on the back. 

"I will be in on train. - Dear Sis - I will be there Sat. April 1 - That is the best I can do as I have no way of traveling. See you Sat. morn. Love Fred.", reads the message written on the back. 

The postcard is used and is in VERY GOOD condition, wear at the edges, blunted corner tips, a few minor creases and stains.
